The Center for Online and Continuing Education (COCE) Faculty Innovation Hub is expected to open at the FAU Davie Liberal Arts building (LA- 203) in Spring 2021. The Faculty Innovation Hub will be staffed to support the development of cutting-edge tools for unprecedented learning opportunities for our FAU students. “Faculty will use the Hub to explore new questions, push beyond the realm of orthodox learning, and serve as agents of change, elevating FAU as a pioneering institution for excellence in virtual and augmented reality applications,” said COCE’s Executive Director, Dr. Julie Golden Botti.
The Innovation Hub ethos promotes a judgement-free, “faculty sandbox” atmosphere of discovery and exploration providing an enriching environment for experimentation and creation of immersive online content, interactive simulations, 3-D modeling, virtual reality, and scenario-based training.
In addition to The Hub’s opening, the Center for Online and Continuing Education (COCE) is pleased to share some recent points of pride:
- FAU’s Executive Director for Online and Continuing Education, Dr. Julie Golden Botti, received the 2020 Online Learning Consortium Gomory-Mayadas Leadership Award in Online Education.
- Pre-COVID, the Center for Online Continuing Education won the 2020 United States Distance Learning Association Innovation Award for their work on developing an interactive eText that is available to students as a zero-cost, open education resource which saves FAU students hundreds of thousands of dollars in textbook costs per year.
- This year, US News and World Report showed FAU online programs climbing in the rankings.
- FAU’s Online Bachelor’s Programs were ranked in the top 100 in the nation.
- FAU’s Online Nursing Graduate program ranked #7 in the nation.
- FAU’s Online Nursing Administration program ranked #17 in the nation.
- FAU’s Business Programs were ranked #19 for Best Online Graduate Programs for Veterans.
- FAU’s Online Master’s in Education Program was ranked in the top 50 in the nation
- Affordable Colleges Online ranked FAU #16 in Best Online Colleges of 2020
- Affordable Colleges Online ranked FAU’s Online Bachelor’s program in Accounting #12 in the nation.
