Broward Education Foundation Receives $5,000 State Farm Grant To Fund Driving Safety Educational Programs

Broward Education Foundation announced it received a $5,000 grant from State Farm® to support driving education programs in Broward County public high schools and to provide proper learning materials and supplies in an effort to promote safe driving.

According to Florida Highway Safety and Motor Vehicles, in 2023 so far, more than 15,000 traffic accidents have been recorded in Broward County, many of which resulted in fatalities or injuries.

“With State Farm’s ongoing support and generosity, we are able to help educate young drivers about how to drive with responsibility and safety in mind,” said Shea Ciriago, CEO of Broward Education Foundation.

Broward County Public School’s driver’s education program reaches 2,000 students annually through sites at 11 high schools. The classes include road practice, as well as the ability to earn both driver’s permits and licenses. In addition, the school system hosts webcasts, presentations, and assemblies to spread the safe driving message to all students.

“With motor vehicle crashes as the leading cause of death for teens, State Farm is committed to supporting Broward County Public Schools’ efforts to end these tragedies and to promote safe driving among its students,” said Jose Soto, State Farm Corporate Responsibility Analyst.
