Here are the best public high schools in South Florida, according to U.S. News & World Report

One of the Top 5 public high schools in the nation is located in South Florida, according to U.S. News & World Report.

The Best Public High Schools ranking covered more than 17,000 schools across the country. Working with RTI International, U.S. News evaluated the schools on passing AP exams, math and reading performance and proficiency, graduation rates, and whether they do a good job teaching underserved students.

A school in Miami-Dade County ranked fourth in the nation. In fact, Miami-Dade had six schools in the Top 10, with four among Miami-Dade County Public Schools and the other two charter schools.

“In the middle of this pandemic crisis, we can all use some good news,” Miami-Dade Schools Superintendent Alberto M. Carvalho said. “M-DCPS continues to demonstrate that our district, regardless of the circumstances, is a leader in academic performance, and that includes providing our students with a remarkable range of educational opportunities.”

Of the Top 25 public high schools in South Florida, Miami-Dade had 19, followed by Broward County, with four, and Palm Beach County, with two.
