The Florida Department of Education released the Federal Graduation Rates for the 2021/22 school year, which illustrates the Broward County Public Schools (BCPS) graduation rate at 87.2%. This rate reflects an increase from the District’s 2018/19 graduation rate of 86.2%, which is the last school year prior to the pandemic when seniors had to meet state standardized assessment requirements, including the Algebra I End-of-Course Exam and the English Language Arts 10th grade Florida Standards Assessment. These requirements were waived during the 2019/20 and 2020/21 school years.
The Federal Graduation Rate includes traditional high schools, centers and charter schools. The graduation rate for BCPS traditional high schools only (excluding centers and charter schools) is 93.9%.
Additional highlights for BCPS:
- 30 of 36 traditional District high schools achieved a graduation rate of 90% or higher, with 17 of these schools reaching a graduation rate at or above 95%.
- The 2021/22 graduation rate for Black students, Hispanic students, White students, Free and Reduced-Price Lunch students and Students with Disabilities in BCPS exceeds the state’s graduation rate.
- The graduation rate for Students with Disabilities increased 2.7 percentage points from 2018/19. Students who receive Free and Reduced-Price Lunch increased one percentage point compared to 2018/19.
- Six District high schools earned 100% graduation rates: Broward Virtual School, College Academy at Broward College, Lauderhill 6-12, Millennium 6-12 Collegiate Academy, Sheridan Technical High School and William T. McFatter Technical High School.
- Three District high schools significantly increased graduation rates in 2021/22 compared to 2018/19: Northeast High School (6.3 percentage points), Stranahan High School (3 percentage points) and Lauderhill 6-12 (2 percentage points).
