Honored with multiple “Teacher of the Year” accolades among other deserving awards, Jeannie’s educational journey – from student to teacher – has always been centered in Broward County. As an Equity Liaison, she champions inclusivity and enlightens fellow educators while helping all students feel safe and supported. She attributes her own success to Mrs. Zahler, her sixth-grade science teacher at Lauderdale Lakes Middle School who encouraged her to embrace experimentation and recognize that a wrong answer is simply a path toward discovery.  Another memorable teacher was Mr. McLaughlin, her senior year English Honors professor. While studying the Renaissance period, she fondly recalls how he brought the lesson to life through a Renaissance Fair. Active learning was much more engaging than any textbook. These are just a few teachers who inspired Jeannie to apply the same teaching methods in her own classroom.
